PET or PETE (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles are becoming so popular because of its strength, thermo-stability and its incredible transparency. PET Plastic is known for its crystal clear appearance but can also be produced in other colors such as White, Black, Green, Cobalt Blue and more. PET Plastic Bottles are often used in the food and beverage industry to package water, juice, salad dressings and peanut butter to name a few. They are also very prevalent in the beauty and personal care industry for bath salts, lotions, shampoos and more.
HDPE (high-density polyethylene ) plastic bottles are known for their strength and versatility. While HDPE bottles cannot be produced in Clear like PET, they are typically produced in Natural (think of a milk jug), White or a custom color. HDPE bottles have fairly good impact and chemical resistance and are commonly used in the household chemical, pet/vet and personal care industries.
PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic bottles are often clear and are very prevalent in the automotive and industrial chemical industries. PVC bottles have dwindled in popularity due to environmental concerns and instead customers have opted for PET bottles. However, PVC bottles are still available and a good choice if you are looking for a strong and transparent bottle.
LDPE (low-density polyethylene ) plastic bottles are known for being squeezable and are less rigid than HDPE plastic bottles. They are mostly produced in a Natural color (think milk jug) and have a very high impact strength. LDPE plastic bottles are resistant to most chemicals and are commonly used for cosmetics, drugs, food and toiletries.
PP (polypropylene) plastic bottles are a versatile plastic and is very similar to HDPE plastic. They are rigid, durable and have good chemical resistance. Due to the high fill temperature tolerance, polypropylene bottles can also be used for hot fill products. While Polypropylene bottles and jars are common, PP is more widely used for caps and closures.
PS (polystyrene) plastic bottles are a crystal clear color and a very rigid plastic. Polystyrene plastic bottles have poor impact and stress crack resistance and can break if dropped. Polystyrene bottles are commonly used in the personal care and cosmetics industries but can also be used in some dry food applications.
